Planning shouldn’t take longer than the trip

Pick the places you want to see. We’ll work out the order, the days and the driving.

  • 🧭

    Find things worth doing

Search real activities near where you’re headed — filtered by distance, difficulty and what they cost.

  • 🗓️

    Days that make sense

Pick what you fancy and we group it by area, so each day stays in one place instead of criss-crossing the map.

  • 🚗

    Real travel times

Every stop shows how long it takes to reach from the last one, routed in the way you’re actually travelling.

From idea to trailhead in four steps

  1. 01

    Where and when

Name the trip, say where you’re setting off from and where you’re headed, and pick your dates.

  2. 02

    Pick what you fancy

Browse real activities near your destination. Add as many as you like — nothing is fixed to a day yet.

  3. 03

    We build the days

Your picks are grouped by area and ordered by driving distance, so no day doubles back on itself.

  4. 04

    Rearrange and go

Drag anything to another day, see it all on the map, and invite the people coming with you.

Or start from someone else’s

Public trips come with their days, their map and their travel times already worked out.

Common questions

Is Be Outside free?
Yes. Finding activities, building a trip and sharing it are free, and no card is required to sign up.
How does it decide what goes on which day?
Your chosen activities are grouped by where they are, so a day stays in one part of the map, then ordered within each day by real driving distance from where you’re staying. You can drag anything to a different day afterwards.
Are the travel times real?
They’re routed rather than estimated — measured in whichever way you said you’re travelling, and planned around the time you set off, so a drive accounts for traffic at that hour and a train is one that actually runs.
Can I join a trip someone else planned?
Public trips appear in Explore with their days, map and travel times. Anyone with a share link can view a trip; you only need an account to build your own.

The trails are calling.
